Takeaways from Arsenal’s comprehensive win

Arsenal have been irrelevant for years. Started this season very well but the critics complained about statement victories. Gunners weren’t helped by the loss at Old Trafford. This derby victory gives them the belief among the squad and raises the fear among their opponents. Time will tell if the Gunners are for real but they are on their way. If the Mount Everest is the goal, they are definitely at the base camp.

Granit Xhaka:

Talking about re-emergence, has there ever been a comeback of this sort? We have seen guys making miracle comebacks from injuries but this is something unique. He had a foot outside the door at the Emirates. He was in the dog house. Even during the summer, he was the one that was touted to be eased out of the starting XI with possible signings such as Tielemens. He is undroppable now.

That game against Crystal Palace looks like a million years away now.

From dog house to penthouse.

A lot of credit goes to Mikel Arteta. He stuck by the Swiss and even transformed his role in the side. Now, the team is reaping benefit as he has scored 2 and assisted further 3 in 8 games already more than the 3 goal contributions he had in each of his previous 3 seasons. Good times ahead for the former Gladbach man who will be looking to lead his country against Cameroon, Serbia and Brazil, who have a big Arsenal contingent in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Manner in which:

Arsenal have been criticized for capitulating and incompetence to come back when stocks are down. Today, similar to a few times this season, they have managed to come back in the games. They were not behind today but things did not look great when they got pegged back before the break despite dominating the game. Managed to keep up the intensity.

Any championship contender needs win games regardless of where you’re playing. But to have a rapturous home crowd buzzing behind your team is immense. For years, Emirates has been known to be somber. Not lately though, as the fans are fully behind the team who are now on a 7 game winning run at the Emirates. Starting to be a fortress.

Spursy Royal:

Arsenal deserved their win but were given a helping hand by Emerson Royal’s woeful lunge on fellow Brazilian Martinelli. Was it a payback for all the problems Martinelli caused down the left hand side?

Spurs were lucky not to have conceded more and Conte making a quadruple sub taking off Richardson and Son in the end shows how scared he was. Spurs now have failed to win any of their last 13 Premier League visits to Arsenal(Drawn 4).

Assured Arteta:

Arteta is the first Arsenal manager to win his first 4 home games against Tottenham. This victory will be sweet as he had plenty of injury concerns leading up to the game. Safe to say his stock is rising as a manager.

This Arsenal side look completely different to the one that succumbed to the North London rivals back in May. since defeat against Spurs in May. There were 5 changes to the side that started at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Arsenal visit the ground on January the 14th and will look to be sit atop when the game is around post World Cup break.

Rolls Royce!

William Saliba. What a player!

Arsenal have been praying for a defender this good with all the tools, speed, strength, ball playing ability and leadership from years, probably a decade and a half.
